In 2007, a special building for the Heydar Aliyev Center was built in the yard of the Azerbaijan Teachers' Institute (ATI). In 2016, after ATI joined ASPU, it became a part of Heydar Aliyev Centre of the Pedagogical University. Heydar Aliyev Museum, which has been operating since 2007 in the Main campus of ASPU, was replaced with Heydar Aliyev Center in 2019 by the order of the university rector.

Books, collections, photographs, copies of archival documents and other exhibits reflecting the life and activities of the great leader have been collected in the center.

The main task of the center is to systematize and display materials related to the national leader, to conduct research on relevant topics, to promote his rich life path, ideological heritage, and experience of statehood among the employees, students, and guests of the university, as well as the students of the partner schools.

Students of various schools of the university are invited to the Center with a special plan and schedule approved in each academic year, and they are given detailed information about the life and activities of the national leader. Conferences, seminars, round tables, discussions, competitions, knowledge contests and other events are held in the Center on the eve of the great leader's birthday, National Liberation Day and on other memorable days.
