The International Relations Department of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University was established in 1993 under the vice-rectorate for international relations. The international relations department ensures the university's integration to the advanced education systems of the world by expanding its international relations and at the same time organizing the effective development of cooperation with a number of prestigious educational institutions of the world.

Drafting of international documents (agreement, memorandum of understanding, protocol, agreement) in accordance with the direction of the university's activities, signing cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding with foreign higher education institutions and international organizations, and conducting student-teacher-employee exchange within the framework of the signed documents, responsible for managing international programs and projects, solving visa and registration issues of foreign teachers and students, as well as students coming under the program, correspondence with various related educational institutions, organizing events with foreign students and teachers throughout the year.

Participation in international programs and projects plays an important role in ASPU's international relations. International relations department is a partner of international programs Erasmus+ and Maulana Exchange Program.

Currently, the department is headed by Gunay Maharramova.  In addition, senior specialist Nurangiz Mahmudova and specialists Rana Hasanova, Rufana Ahmadova and Gulnar Alakbarova work in the department.
